Agbonlahor and Cuellar to be reunited.
Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor admits it will be strange tussling with former colleague Carlos Cuellar at the Stadium of Light.
The pair were team-mates in the Midlands last season but could face each other on Wearside tomorrow.
Cuellar made the move north in the summer, joining fellow ex-Villa men Martin O'Neill and Craig Gardner.
Agbonlahor and Cuellar are firm friends and have been in touch this week in the build-up to the game in the north east.
“It will be really, really weird to play against Carlos,” said Agbonlahor, who has spent his entire career at Villa Park.
“He was with us here at Villa for a number of years so playing against him will be strange. I’ve swapped a few texts with him this week. There’s been plenty of banter flying around between us.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game. Whenever you go to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland you know it’s going to be tough. But we go into that game with confidence after the Swindon win. We’ll be aiming for three points. We’ll be doing our best to get them.”
He added: “Carlos and Craig will be looking to prove people wrong. They’ll be right up for the game but so will we.”
