Olympic boost for Ji Dong-won.
Sunderland's Ji Dong-won played the final 17 minutes as South Korea beat Switzerland at the London Olympics yesterday.
The win, at the City of Coventry Stadium, moved the Koreans onto four points, level with Mexico at the top of Group B.
Park Chu-Young twice came close in a goalless first half but was eventually rewarded for his persistence just before the hour.
Nam Tae-Hee provided a super cross from the left and the Arsenal forward threw himself full length to score with a diving header.
Switzerland levelled almost immediately when Innocent Emeghara headed home Ricardo Rodriguez's centre.
But recent Cardiff signing Kim Bo-Kyung made it three goals in seven minutes and won the match when he seized on a deflection in the area to volley the ball into the net.
Ji Dong-won replaced scorer Park on 73 minutes and helped his side to a crucial victory.
The Koreans will be hoping to top the group when they take on bottom-placed Gabon at Wembley on Wednesday (August 1, KO 5pm).
