Stopper impressing manager.
After notching his seventh clean sheet of the 2012-13 campaign in the win over Manchester City, Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was hailed by manager Martin O'Neill.
The Belgian international stopper pulled of a string of impressive saves to keep the reigning Barclays Premier League champions at bay at the Stadium of Light.
City’s prolific strike force of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero were denied on a number of occasions by Mignolet.
Pablo Zabaleta was also left banging his fists off the ground when the stopper gathered his 68th minute effort to ensure the Black Cats held onto their 1-0 lead.
Moments after the final whistle Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill was quick to acknowledge the goalkeeper’s endeavour:
“Simon [Mignolet] was outstanding.
“He still hasn’t forgiven himself for the error against West Bromwich Albion last month.
“You can count the errors he has made on one hand this season and we’re already at Boxing Day.
“I’m delighted with him. He’s been amazing.”
