Defender looking to reward supporters.
John O’Shea says Sunderland will be looking to give their fans a Christmas present with decent festive returns against Manchester City and Spurs.
The Black Cats head into a busy spell of games having recorded a second away league win of the season at Southampton last weekend.
O’Shea has been impressed with the backing his side have received and is hoping to lay on a festive period to savour.
“It’s a busy period but one the lads are looking forward to,” O’Shea said.
“We know how hard the fans work and all the money they spend getting to the games.
“We’ll be doing all we can to get three points for them as well as ourselves.”
City head north on Boxing Day for the first of two games in four days on Wearside, and O’Shea feels his side are capable of putting one over on his old rivals if they stay strong defensively.
“We know we’re more than capable of mixing it with the big teams when we’re on song together,” he added.
“We can cause teams problems but we need to defend as a whole solid unit and make ourselves very hard to break down.”
