Rose is a red and white.

Martin O’Neill has made a deadline-day swoop for Tottenham defender Danny Rose.

The left-back has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan deal.

Rose, 22, is O’Neill’s fifth summer signing, joining Carlos Cuellar, Louis Saha, Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson.

The Doncaster-born defender represented Team GB at the London Olympics, making four appearances.

After coming through the youth system at Leeds, Rose moved to White Hart Lane in July 2007 and has had loan spells at Watford, Peterborough and Bristol City.

Rose has made 29 career appearances for Spurs and marked his league debut against Arsenal in April 2010 with a spectacular long-range strike which was voted the club’s Goal of the Season.

He played 20 games for the North London club in all competitions last season.

As well as his Team GB involvement, Rose has been a regular for England at under-21 level, winning 21 caps and scoring three goals.
