Boss delighted with addition.

Everyone has a point to prove. He wants to do well

Martin O'Neill is delighted to have bolstered his striking options with the signing of Louis Saha.

The 34-year-old striker inked a one-year deal yesterday having become a free agent at the end of last season.

Saha split time between Everton and Spurs last season and has bagged more than 150 senior goals.

He is available for tomorrow's trip to Arsenal and O'Neill is pleased to have the experienced frontman in the camp.

"Naturally I'm pleased [to have Louis Saha at the club]," he said.

"Last season Louis played a while for Everton, he played for Tottenham, and maybe thought with his family moving back to France he might have thought that was it. He maybe even thought of playing in the French league.

"I think, as I asked him the other day, everyone has a point to prove. He wants to do well.

"His appetite for the game is fine and in truth there's so many games that hopefully he would play in, but I'm not expecting him to play every single game. That would be an enormous ask for him. But in the course of time, I'm hoping he can help us.

"We have to improve our goal ratio, I think that's obvious to everyone. I'm not so sure in the course of time that you can have too many players who can score goals at a football club."
