Pickford back for evening fixture at Blackburn.

Sunderland’s under-21 side continue their Barclays U21 Premier League campaign tonight with an away game at Blackburn.

The Black Cats will take on Rovers at Leigh Sports Village (KO 7pm) hoping to bounce back following last week’s 4-0 defeat by Aston Villa.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has been away on international duty recently, returns to the squad and will compete with Ben Wilson for a start.

Craig Lynch and Ryan Noble are the only squad members with first-team experience, while there are four youth-team players in the travelling party.

Sunderland head south looking for their first win since the second league phase began in January.

Blackburn, who are expected to field several senior players, have won one of their first three league games, losing the other two.
