Development boss reflects on Histon win.
Development squad boss Kevin Ball felt his side made further progress as they beat Conference North outfit Histon 3-1 last night.
Jordan Laidler scored twice and Billy Knott also netted as the second string followed up on the 1-0 win at Spennymoor with another victory.
"It was a good game and Histon played some good football, particularly in the first half," Ball said.
"We scored three great goals and it was another excellent work-out. While Spennymoor were more physical in our last game, Histon got the ball down and it was a good exercise for the lads.
"We've organised the pre-season so the games get progressively harder and I think that's been the case."
The reserves' pre-season is drawing to a conclusion with only two friendlies remaining - away at Gateshead on Friday and then York next Tuesday.
And Ball is looking forward to making the short trip along the Felling Bypass on Friday to face a Gateshead side who finished eighth in the Conference Premier last season, seven points shy of the play-offs.
"We've had a few tough games now and Gateshead are a good side who will be tough opponents," he said.
"It's a great night for playing football, Friday night, and we're all looking forward to it."
