League champs set to take on rivals.
Sunderland WFC complete their FA Women’s Premier League campaign with the visit of rivals Leeds United to Eppleton CW tomorrow (Sunday).
The Lady Black Cats confirmed their third consecutive title success last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Cardiff.
Ladies’ boss Mick Mulhern is keen for his side to finish on a high before taking the next step in their adventure when they ply their trade in the Women’s Super League Division Two next season.
“I spoke to the girls about the Leeds game because the real celebrations will be after Sunday when we get the cup,” he added.
“It’s a bit hollow if you get the cup and you’ve just been beaten.
“I think we owe Leeds one as well; they beat us 4-1 [in the Premier League Cup semi-finals] but we had five top players missing that day, including my centre-forwards, so they didn’t see the true Sunderland. Hopefully they will this weekend.”
Rachel Furness is in contention to start for Sunderland after she played the final ten minutes of the win over Cardiff last weekend.
Natalie Gutteridge remains sidelined.
Kick-off is at 2pm at Eppleton CW and fans can follow live updates on Twitter via @SunderlandWFC.
