Ladies head to Doncaster

Ladies in cup action.

Sunderland Ladies play title rivals Doncaster Rovers Belles in the Continental Cup on Thursday night.

After a break for international fixtures, Sunderland Ladies are back in action this week with an away game at Doncaster Rovers Belles and then a home game on Sunday against London Bees.

Doncaster Rovers Belles are perhaps one of the most famous women’s teams and having been founder members of the Women’s National League this is the first season that they have competed outside of the top flight.

Having been relegated to FAWSL2 last season, the Belles are currently unbeaten in the league and Continental Cup, including an impressive 2-1 win over Manchester City.

Sunderland Ladies have also made a 100% start to the league and have suffered only one defeat overall - their loss to last season’s champions Liverpool in the Continental Cup.

Both sides have promotion to FAWSL1 in their sights so Thursday night’s Continental Cup fixture will be a good chance for the two teams to test themselves against their main rivals before meeting in the league.

Doncaster Rovers Belles v SAFC Ladies will play at the Keepmoat Stadium on Thursday 15th May, KO 7.45pm.

Sunderland AFC Ladies play London Bees on Sunday 18th May, KO 12 noon at the Hetton Centre. Tickets are available now priced at adults £4, U18s/Over-65s £1.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the ground on the day of the match.
