Win on Sunday would secure third successive crown.

Sunderland WFC host Cardiff City on Sunday knowing a win will secure their third consecutive FA Women’s Premier League title.

Mick Mulhern’s side currently hold a one-point advantage over second-place Watford, who have played all 18 games, whilst they also hold a four-point lead on Leeds United who have two games remaining.

After last weekend’s 3-0 victory at League Cup winners Aston Villa, the Lady Black Cats extended their winning run to three and a victory over the Welsh outfit on Sunday would protect their unbeaten home run this campaign.

Last time the two sides met, back in April, Sunderland ran out 4-0 winners with Sarah McFadden scoring twice for Mulhern’s side either side of strikes from Mead and Sophie Williams.

Mulhern has no fresh injury worries ahead of the game with 29-goal striker Mead looking to extend her fine run of form.

Natalie Gutteridge and Rachel Furness are long-term absentees for Sunderland.

Sunday’s game takes place Eppleton CW, with kick-off at 2pm.
