Player of the Day: Paul Lemon

by Stuart Vose

Middlesbrough-born forward profiled.

Paul Lemon was a young arrival on the first-team scene at Sunderland, making his senior debut at the age of 18 against Aston Villa in December 1984.

However, the bulk of his appearances spanned 1986-88, including the Division Three title-winning season when Lemon chipped in with nine goals.

Paul played a total of 124 games for Sunderland, scoring 17 goals, and had loan spells with Carlisle, Walsall, Reading and Chesterfield during his time on Wearside.

He joined the Spireites on a permanent basis in November 1990 and later featured for Tromso of Norway, Derry City and Telford United.
