The player with the shortest SAFC career made his debut in 2004.

2004 - Simon Ramsden (pictured) came on as a 90th minute substitute against Ipswich Town, making his only appearance for Sunderland – the two minutes he was on the pitch make him be the player with the shortest SAFC career

1990 – Gary Owers was sent off in a 5-0 fifth round league cup defeat at Coventry City.

1989 - Sunderland's on-loan midfielder Ki Sung Yueng was born in Gwangju, South Korea.

1931 – Thomas Urwin became the first Sunderland player to be sent off in a FA Cup tie; in a fourth round draw with Bolton.
