60 years since Arsenal hammered 7-1 at Roker Park.

2001 – Lilian Laslandes scored his only goal for Sunderland in a 4-2 League Cup second round defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. Michael Ingham also made his debut in this game.

1953 – Reigning league champions Arsenal suffered their worst defeat on Wearside when a Trevor Ford hat-trick sent Sunderland on their way to a 7-1 win in front of nearly 60,000 at Roker Park.

1925 – David Halliday scored his second successive hat-trick when the Lads beat Sheffield United 6-1 at Roker Park.

1914 – Jackie Mordue scored Sunderland’s quickest penalty; awarded after only thirty seconds of the home game against Liverpool.
