Gabbiadini double downs former club.

1988 – Two goals for both Marco Gabbiadini and Colin Pascoe sent Sunderland on their way to a 4-0 victory over York City in a League Cup first round, second leg game at Roker Park.

1967 – Defending league champions Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Roker Park. Colin Suggett scored Sunderland’s goal, meaning he had notched in five consecutive games.

1965 – Allan Gauden became the first substitute to be used by Sunderland when he replaced Mike Hellawell at Villa Park.

1930 – 1930’s captain Alex Hastings made his Black Cats debut in a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth. He later emigrated to Australia and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1981 for his work as president of South Australia’s Soccer Federation.
