Today's dose of SAFC history.

2005 – Sunderland recorded their 100th win at the Stadium of Light, beating Crystal Palace 2-1.

Goals from Andy Welsh and Marcus Stewart sealed the FA Cup third round victory for Mick McCarthy's side. The victory was made all the sweeter after it was Palace that knocked Sunderland out of the Division One play-off the previous season on penalties.

1968 – Sunderland signed Gordon Harris from Burnley for £68,000.

1938 – FA Cup holders Sunderland beat Watford 1-0 at Roker Park thanks to a goal from Len Duns.
