2010 – Goals from Nicklas Bendtner and Cesc Fabregas saw Sunderland slip to defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates.
2007 – A late DJ Campbell goal at St Andrews’ earned Birmingham a share of the spoils against Sunderland. That result interrupted the Lads’ six-game winning streak - with three victories before it and three afterwards too.
1996 – Sunderland beat Ipswich Town 1-0, courtesy of a Craig Russell strike, starting a nine game run of maximum points.
1980 – Left-back Joe Hinnigan signed from Wigan Athletic for £135,000. He was never on the losing side in his first 14 games for SAFC.
1944 – Promotion winning manager Ken Knighton was born in Barnsley.
1930 – Left-back Harold Shaw signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £7,000.
