Sunderland start 2004-05 season with thumping of Crewe Alexandra.
Sunderland began the 2004-05 season with a 2-0 defeat at Coventry City, though, it was their home form that would see them lift the Championship title in May.
Crewe were the first visitors of the season to the Stadium of Light, and goals from Carl Robinson, Marcus Stewart and Stephen Elliot, began a four month home unbeaten run.
And, the deadlock was broke on the tenth minute, a Sunderland corner was cleared to Robinson who struck from 25 yards out through a crowd of players and into the bottom left corner.
On the stroke of half-time, Crewe equalised, neat play saw Dean Ashton pass across the face of the goal where Mark Rivers was sliding in at the far post to slot under Thomas Myhre.
The Black Cats regained the lead not long after the hour mark, Kevin Kyle crossed for Stewart to tap in from close range.
The game was put to bed in the 90th minute, Elliott latched on to a throw-in and broke clear before rolling it past Ben Williams in the Crewe goal.
