'Team of all the Talents' star was born on this day in 1866.
2011 – Connor Wickham and Stephane Sessegnon both scored to rescue a point for Sunderland in the home draw with Aston Villa.
1966 – Sunderland recorded a 3-0 win at St James’ Park, their best for 58 years.
1932 – Sunderland beat Bolton Wanderers 7-4 at Roker Park having been 6-2 up at half time. Bobby Gurney scored four times in the win.
1898 – Hugh Wilson scored the first Sunderland hat-trick at Roker Park in the 3-0 win over Bury.
1866 – Goalkeeper Ted Doig was born in Letham, Forfarshire. Doig was an ever-present in goal for the Wearsiders in the 14 seasons he spent at the club, winning four league championships in the process.
