Fan zone: Live music from Yuma

Sunderland duo "Yuma" back in Fan Zone by popular demand.

YUMA are a female fronted acoustic duo from North East England, made up of John Timney and Shannon Pearl Powell.

Specializing in blues and folk their style is a well blended mixture of the two, with 'harmonies that make your spine tingle' and 'songs you can get lost in' (Gary Grainger, BishopFM).

Their influences include many of the blues greats such as the late BB King, John Lee Hooker and Robert Johnson, but also other more folky artists of a more modern era for example; Emmylou Harris, The Civil Wars and Iron and Wine.

Being a mish-mash of the two styles while putting their spin on things, they have been described as 'Resonant and Bluesy' (Kathryn Beeson, The Journal) and 'A taste of something new on the North-East music scene'.

Their debut album 'Wildfire' was released in October 2015, following an EP, 'Dreamcatcher', the previous year. The duo are currently working on new material whilst gigging regularly around the North of England.

You can catch them from 1.30pm in the SAFC Fan Zone ahead of the Southampton clash.
