Club news: Lads welcome Jasmine to training

The players and staff at Sunderland AFC welcomed a special guest to training this week, helping young supporter Jasmine to complete her bucket list.

Tragically Jasmine has been given just months to live after being born with Down’s Syndrome and a heart defect called pulmonary hypertension.

The brave two-year-old has now helped raise over £3,000 for the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital under the name ‘Jasmine’s Hearts’.

Thanks to her friends, family and local community, she has been able to enjoy and fulfil some of her final wishes, including a family holiday with her two sisters.

The last wish on her list was to meet the Lads, and in particular her favourite player, Jermain Defoe.

As a special guest of the club, she and her family were welcomed down to training by David Moyes and the squad who were all delighted to meet her.

To top it all off, she was presented with a signed shirt by Jermain after spending time with him and the rest of the squad.

She and her family would now like to help repay the kindness of those who have helped Jasmine, by raising money for other effected families.
