Former Sunderland goalkeeper Jimmy Montgomery received the freedom of the City last week.
Born in Hendon, Monty joined Sunderland AFC in 1960 and went on to make a record 627 appearances for Sunderland, one of which saw him play a pivotal role in the 1973 FA Cup final against Leeds United.
