Sunderland will face Shrewsbury Town in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The Black Cats will meet the League One side at the Stadium of Light during the week commencing August 22.
Sunderland last played the Shrews in 1989, a 2-1 win at Roker Park thanks to goals from Thomas Hauser and Gordon Armstrong. The two clubs have only met each other on eight occasions, with Shrewsbury yet to notch a win.
A confirmed date and ticketing arrangements will be announced in due course.
