Club offering cash boost.

SAFC has invited supporters to nominate worthy causes to receive a £20,000 cash boost the club was given after topping the annual Fair Play Table for fans’ behavior.

The Red and White Army scooped the award for the best behaved fans across the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season, earning the monetary prize from the FA Charity Committee, to be donated to charity.

Delegates in the Barclays Premier League assess the behaviour of fans at matches, with points being awarded for positive verbal support and recognition of outstanding play by the opposition, as well as respect for match officials and opposing fans.

The club is now asking its supporters to nominate the registered charity they feel is most deserving of the money, with the prize going to benefit a local good cause.

Nominations have already been received for a number of good causes, including North East children’s hospice Grace House.

Supporters are asked to email their suggestions, along with the number of the registered charity they are nominating, to before 5pm on Friday 20 June.
