Beach House grand opening this weekend.

The Beach House, Sunderland’s exciting new contemporary seaside café and bistro, is set to open its doors for the first time this weekend.

Located within the new Pier Point development on Marine Walk, The Beach House is a fun, family-friendly venue, perfectly located just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Roker beach.

Saturday’s launch will see a whole host of fun activities and entertainment throughout the day, starting at 10am, when the bistro welcomes its first customers and local radio station Sun fm kick off the day with a variety of music and competitions.

Foundation of Light, SAFC’s registered charity, will be showcasing some fun activities on the beach itself, including penalty shoot outs, football tennis and beach volleyball and SAFC’s much-loved mascots, Samson and Delilah will be on hand to meet youngsters. Free ice-cream samples will also be available.

The official opening ceremony will take place at 1pm on Saturday, when 1973 FA Cup-winning hero and SAFC Ambassador Jimmy Montgomery, accompanied by club legend Kevin Ball, will perform the ribbon-cutting duties.

Part of Sunderland AFC’s 1879 Events Management portfolio, the stunning new venue combines all the best elements of seaside eating - from simple teas and coffees to a modern bistro-style lunch menu, showcasing fantastic locally-sourced produce and seafood, through to signature burger dishes and freshly-prepared sandwiches.

A bespoke menu for children will be on offer and customers can sample the fun ice-cream, popcorn and candy bar, which forms an integral part of the venue.

Visitors can also take advantage of The Beach House’s take-out service, offering a range of food and drinks for customers wishing to enjoy quality catering whilst they stroll along the beach.

Sunderland AFC’s commercial director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “The Beach House is an exciting new venture for 1879 Events Management and we are really excited by its potential. There have been some really positive developments on the seafront in recent months and we hope The Beach House will be a must-visit destination for people in Sunderland.”

The Beach House will be open for morning coffee, lunch and through until early evening Monday to Friday, with extended hours across weekends and for special events such as the Sunderland Air Show. The venue, which offers a licenced bar, is also available for private parties and functions.
