VIP showcase event at the SoL.
To celebrate the start of a new Barclays Premier League campaign at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland AFC welcomed principal club partner Bidvest, business leaders and clients to an exclusive ‘Evening with the Black Cats’.
The event, partnered by the club’s catering partner Bidvest 3663, was the first networking event of the new season, offering businesses the opportunity to meet with each other and to discover the exciting developments that the club has been working on ahead of the new season.
A range of interactive exhibition stands showcased the fantastic new menus and locally sourced seasonal produce on offer at the stadium. Guests were also able to test out their football skills with coaches from the Foundation of Light offering a range of football activities and Seaham Hall providing mini spa treatments.
Also on hand at the event was the club’s new development executive head chef, Steve Welch, he was joined by senior development chef Patrick Lesca, in providing a preview of the exciting new menu developments for the 2014-15 season, with a special ready, steady, cook style live demonstration.
The chefs, who went head to head in the live culinary demonstration, were joined by first team stars Jack Rodwell, Adam Johnson, Costel Pantillimon and club captain John O’Shea in cooking up some culinary delights in front of the evenings’ guests.
Players Billy Jones and George Honeyman were joined by head coach Gus Poyet, along with club legends Jimmy Montgomery, Gary Bennett, Dick Malone, Eric Gates and Micky Horswill.
Over the course of the evening, guests were given an insight into the Stadium of Light and the award-winning hospitality available on matchdays and non-matchdays, along with events away from the stadium through the club’s external catering company, 1879 Events Management.
