Ice cream parlour mark big kick off with new dish.
SAFC Ladies’ first home game of the FA Women’s Super League season takes place this Sunday and supporters can enjoy an Easter fun day in the build up to the game as well as free entry for SAFC season card holders.
The Lady Black Cats face Reading FC Ladies on Sunday 20 April, (2pm KO) at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground in Hetton, and supporters can enjoy a host of family fun including face painting, balloon artists, a speed cage to test shooting, as well as complimentary ice-cream from the Lickety Split Creamery.
The popular Lickety Split Creamery in Seaham have dedicated a special ‘Ha’way the Lasses’ sundae to the team, made up of red and white ice cream in support of the team’s maiden campaign in the FA WSL.
SAFC Ladies’ stars Steph Bannon and Rachel Laws visited the ice-cream parlour ahead of their WSL opener against Durham, to sample the new sundae for themselves.
Sunderland Ladies’ Captain Steph Bannon said: “We are delighted that Lickety Split have created the ‘Haway the Lasses’ ice cream for us and will be supporting us in our first game of the season. We are all very excited for the Super League kick off and cannot wait to get the season underway.”
Lickety Split co-owner Cindy Bettcher said: “It’s brilliant to be able to support the ladies’ team with their own sundae and even better to be able to go down to the opening game of the season to give away some of our ice-cream. “
Sunday’s game is free to all SAFC season card holders on production of a valid 2013-14 season card with admission for non-season card holders priced at £4 for adults and £1 for concessions with tickets available on the gate from 12.30pm.
Ladies’ season cards will also be available on the day priced at £38 for adults and £12 for concessions, visit www.safcladies.com for more information and a full list of fixtures.
