Additional tickets on sale on Saturday.
Fans who thought they had missed out one of the most hotly-anticipated concerts ever staged at the Stadium of Light are being given another chance to get their hands on tickets for the opening night of One Direction’s UK leg of their ‘Where We Are’ 2014 World Tour.
Following the finalising of the stage set up and sight lines for technical equipment, additional tickets are set to be released for the show, which takes place on Wednesday 28th May, 2014.
Sunderland’s Stadium of Light is one of only four UK venues to host the tour – along with Manchester’s Ethiad Stadium, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Wembley Stadium, London – and demand for tickets has been unprecedented.
The bands’ recently released movie One Direction: This Is Us, broke box office records across the world and their eagerly awaited new album, Midnight Memories, which will feature heavily in the tour, is set to be released in November.
SAFC Commercial Director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “One Direction are the biggest boyband in the world right now and demand for tickets for the Stadium of Light show, as the only venue between Manchester and Edinburgh, was incredible. We know that many fans were left disappointed at the thought of not being able to see their idols, so the release of these additional tickets is great news for everyone.”
There is only a very limited allocation of additional tickets and demand is expected to be huge. Fans are advised to book promptly on Saturday to avoid disappointment.
Tickets will be on sale from 10am, Saturday 28 September, 2013 through a number of online ticket agencies and hotlines. Please note, tickets ARE NOT available from the Stadium of Light ticket office or SAFC phonelines.
