SAFC delegation make America trip
Sunderland AFC is continuing to develop business links across the globe with a club delegation visiting the United States of America.
The Black Cats have already built strong links throughout Africa, highlighted by principal sponsor Bidvest, the tourism partnership and academy in Tanzania and partnerships with Ghanaian football club Asante Kotoko and South African team Bidvest Wits.
Interest in the club has grown massively in the US with broadcasting giants NBC securing live Barclays Premier League games from this season, which has seen the American network show live coverage on numerous occasions from the Stadium of Light in recent months.
Summer acquisition Jozy Altidore also adds further interest in the Black Cats, with the striker currently on international duty with the USA soccer team.
The club delegation headed by commercial director Gary Hutchinson, in the US has met with businesses to continue to grow the club prominence across different continents.
SAFC are currently in Washington DC, a city with has a friendship agreement with the City of Sunderland where partnerships could be set up with a number of global businesses.
Commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “Interest in football is growing in America and more people are beginning to know about Sunderland AFC. We have met with a lot of potential partners whilst on the visit and hope to continue to grow the club’s reputation, attracting new businesses on board.”
