Banqueting Suite becomes the Montgomery Suite.
The Banqueting Suite at the Stadium of Light is now known as the Montgomery Suite in honour of one of the club’s most famous sons.
1973 FA Cup-winning hero and club ambassador Jimmy Montgomery turned 70 last month and was the star of the show at a special tribute dinner last Friday.

With a number of former players, club officials, family and friends and supporters in attendance, ‘Monty’ was presented with the special surprise during the ‘This is Your Life’-style evening.
It was an emotional moment for the former goalkeeper, who clocked up a record 627 senior appearances for the club.
“I’m an emotional man and I’m glad I’ve been able to keep myself together,” Montgomery said. “It was a lovely surprise and a great evening with my family and friends and the football club that I love.”
Chairman Ellis Short said: “When you consider the heroes of SAFC, Jimmy Montgomery is right at the peak.
“As our club ambassador, Monty’s place in Sunderland folklore is thoroughly merited and so it is fitting that the club marked his recent 70th birthday.”
A special ‘Montgomery Suite’ plaque was unveiled as part of the tributes to a man who is Sunderland through and through.
Commercial director Gary Hutchinson added: “Jimmy is a hugely important part of our Sunderland family.
"He is loved by fans, young and old, which is very evident on match days here at the stadium where he is always the centre of attention. We are delighted to rename the Banqueting Suite in his honour.”
