Get involved and sharpen your skills.
The Foundation of Light’s 'Coaching the Coaches' clinic continues this week with a session on how to get the best out of a one-hour training session.
The session mixes practical application of coaching principles with classroom based discussions and teaching at Sunderland AFC’s state of the art Academy of Light.
The ‘Coaching the Coaches’ clinic aims to improve grassroots football by giving coaches access to leading figures in football development. The sessions run every two months, covering a broad range of topics including behaviour, strategy and fitness.
Speaking ahead of the event Jamie Wright, Foundation of Light’s Head of Football Development, said: “Due to restrictions on both them and their player’s time today’s coaches need to be increasingly effective in how they use the contact time with their team.
"This month’s session will focus on exactly this with a view to helping coaches get more out of their time.”
The Foundation of Light's Football Coaching Department offers player pathways from in-school coaching and after-school clubs, through to Elite clubs, development centres and Sunderland AFC's Academy.
The ‘Coaching the Coaches’ initiative aims to grant grassroots coaches access to some of the country’s top coaching talent to help them improve their players’ skills and enjoyment of football.
The session will run from 6-8.30pm and costs just £5 per participant. To book a place for this Friday’s clinic contact Rhys Atchison on 0191 551 5077 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
