Capital Radio competition winner will star at gig.
A Topshop worker from Darlington has won a once in a lifetime competition to be the voice of one of the biggest pop concerts to be staged in the North East.
Vicky Burbridge was chosen, from hundreds of entrants, as the winner of 105-106 Capital FM's competition to introduce to the stage all the acts of North East Live, in front of thousands of pop fans.
22 year-old Vicky was serving a customer at the time her ‘demo’ was recorded. Having then been shortlisted from all the entries she was invited to the Capital Studios to record an on air challenge which she passed with flying colours, winning the once in a lifetime money can’t buy prize.
The Northumbria University student said: “I'm absolutely overwhelmed. The Stadium of Light is a huge venue and for thousands of people to hear me introducing acts like the Wanted and JLS, it’s fantastic.
“I'm so excited to see all of the acts; I think I'm probably most excited about Rita Ora as she's huge! Little Mix and JLS will no doubt be amazing.”
Some of the UK’s biggest and best loved pop acts of UK music will take to the stage at North East Live headlined by top boy band, JLS. The Wanted, Rita Ora, Little Mix, James Arthur, Lawson, Conor Maynard, Stooshe, Union J, Amelia Lily and The Vamps complete the one-off line-up.
The family-friendly music extravaganza, designed to suit music fans of all ages, will take place on Saturday 22 June, capping off a stunning month of live music at the Stadium of Light following on from the visits of music giants Bon Jovi and Rihanna.
