Premier League sports psychologist to host showcase event.
Sports Psychologist Dan Abrahams, who has recently worked with QPR and West Ham’s Carlton Cole, will be taking part in the Foundation of Light’s 'Coaching the Coaches' clinic.
Held at Sunderland’s Academy of Light training headquarters, participants will have the opportunity to learn about some of the techniques that have made Dan a leader in the field of sports psychology.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dan said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting with coaches from the North East, learning about the challenges that they face with their players and suggesting techniques to help overcome them.
“Everything that I’ll be covering is tried and tested, some of it at the very top level of football, so participants can be sure that they will be taking away something useful.”
Foundation of Light’s Head of Football Development Jamie Wright added: “Sports Psychology is often overlooked in grassroots football and this is a great opportunity for coaches of all levels to learn how to get inside the minds of their players to bring the best out of them.”
Dan will also be covering techniques covered in his book ‘Soccer Tough: Simple Football Psychology Techniques to Improve Your Game’.
The Foundation of Light's Football Coaching Department offers player pathways from in-school coaching and after-school clubs, through to Elite clubs, development centres and Sunderland AFC's Academy.
The ‘Coaching the Coaches’ initiative aims to grant grassroots coaches access to some of the country’s top coaching talent to help them improve their players’ skills and enjoyment of football.
Places for the course, which takes place from 6.30 - 8.30 on Friday 25 January, are available for just £5 and can be booked by contacting Rhys Atchison on 0191 551 5077 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
