Defender meets fans in Washington.

Sunderland defender John O’Shea wowed fans at the Galleries Shopping Centre yesterday as he turned out in front of hundreds of Black Cats fans at the club’s official store in Washington.

The Republic of Ireland international posed for pictures, signed shirts and spent time talking to supporters as the fans queued to buy their Sunderland shirts at discounted prices.

O’Shea also received cards and good luck messages ahead of Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby with Newcastle United.

O’Shea told safc.com that he was delighted to meet the Sunderland supporters and he was ecstatic with his gifts.

“It was really nice to spend time talking to the Sunderland fans,” O’Shea said.

“I enjoy meeting the little ones as they are always excited to see you; lots of them brought cards and drew pictures for me ahead of the Newcastle game."

Sunderland AFC home and away shirts are ‘buy one get one free’ for a short time only and they are available online and in any of the club’s three official stores.
