Club extend long-running partnership.
Sunderland AFC has signed a new partnership with Real Radio for the 2012-13 season. The new agreement sees the two organisations continue a long-standing partnership that has spanned a number of years.
The club and the station will link up across a range of areas, with the primary focus for the 2012/13 season being the Stadium of Light’s new Family Zone, which will offer youngsters and their families a unique way to enjoy matches with bespoke pre-game entertainment, hosted by the station’s very own livewire presenter, Sibbers.
Competitions throughout the season will also see Real Radio giving its listeners the chance to win family tickets to every home game.
Gary Hutchinson SAFC commercial director said “We are thrilled to be continuing our long-standing partnership with Real Radio.
"They have been great supporters of the club for many years and it’s a partnership that has continued to grow and develop across a number of areas of the business, not just football.
“The support they have given the club and the region in promoting the concerts has been invaluable and we are really looking forward to seeing how the team at Real Radio can enhance our Family Zone this season.”
Jon Kirby, programme controller, Real Radio addedd: “Real Radio is delighted to be once again partnering SAFC for the 2012-13 season. Building on our long standing relationship which began several years ago as commentary partners, the relationship has developed to encompass a broad range of commercial elements.
“We’re excited to be continuing our journey with SAFC and exploring innovative ways to showcase the very best of both the club and Real Radio and we have many more exciting projects in the pipeline.”
In May of this year Real Radio collected a prestigious Sony Radio Academy Bronze Award for the four days of live coverage of Take That’s Progress Live concerts at the Stadium of Light in 2011.
On the same night Real Radio Breakfast with Gary & Lisa collected the Gold Award for Breakfast Show of the Year, the only North East Breakfast show to ever be crowned “Britain’s Best Breakfast Show”.
Again this summer Real Radio broadcast live from the Stadium for the regions’ biggest music events of the year with Coldplay, Springsteen and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
