Park reminisces on Roker days

by Kate Smith

Midfielder reflects on fond memories.

Former midfielder Bobby Park was in the hot seat in the Black Cats Bar for a pre-match talk-in ahead of the game with Middlesbrough.

Park spent seven years at Sunderland after joining at the age of 17 in 1962.

The Scot spoke about how big things were expected of him but his career was ravaged by a series of serious leg injuries.

He looked back on his time spent at Roker Park with affection and he received a big cheer from the gathered Black Cats Bar crowd when he relayed the tale of his spot kick against local rivals Newcastle in the 1969-70 season.

The talk-ins are part of Black Cats Bar matchdays, where fans can enjoy a complimentary dish of the day, free matchday programme and take advantage of various drinks offers.

Tickets are priced at £50, for more information call 0871 911 1500.
