A unique competition courtesy of club partner.
Businesses across the North East are being given a once in a lifetime chance to get to the heart of Sunderland Football Club, with a unique competition launched by the club’s principal partner and shirt sponsor – Invest in Africa.
Invest in Africa is a pioneering not-for-profit business initiative which, through its partnership with Sunderland AFC, is aiming to use the global reach of the Barclays Premier League to show that Africa is open for business, create new business opportunities with the continent and highlight opportunities to companies, including those based in the North East.
‘Be a Director for the Day’ will see one lucky company representative and guest, chosen at random, join members of Sunderland AFC’s Board for the club’s Barclays Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday 27 November. The prize also includes lunch in the boardroom and a seat in the Directors Box. The winning company will also be able to enjoy matchday hospitality for eight of its employees in the Invest in Africa executive box.
This the first time that Sunderland has opened its doors to regional businesses in such a way and the club is working closely with Invest in Africa to harness the huge economic potential of the African continent. All entrants to the competition will receive feedback from Invest in Africa about the types of business opportunities available in the continent.
SAFC marketing director Mike Farnan said: “Developing new partnerships to strengthen the club and supporting the community here in the region is one of our key aims. We are working closely with Invest in Africa to highlight opportunities for North East companies, which we hope will lead to positive impact here on our own doorstep, as well as across Africa. “
William Pollen, Invest in Africa Progamme Director, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage further with the business community, particularly companies based in the North East. We want to create a brand for Africa as a great place to do business, and trough this unique competition we can speak directly with companies about the potential opportunities out there.
“Our aim is to inspire more business to work in Africa, by challenging some of the outdated perceptions of doing business there and demonstrate that the continent is thriving. It is not about taking investment out of the North East, rather to highlight opportunities for business to work in partnership with Africa enterprises to encourage growth at home and abroad.”
To enter the competition, simply email email@example.com with details of your company name, contact information, and a link to the company website.
Invest in Africa will send your company a simple form to fill in so that they can follow up with advice and contacts for exploring new business opportunities in Africa. The closing date for entries is Tuesday 13th November, 2012. Entry is open to all companies, no matter what their size or experience of working in Africa.
