Bob Stokoe

1973 Anniversary Dinner

Team of '73 gala dinner to be held.

The image of a jubilant Bob Stokoe running across the Wembley turf with his hands aloft in 1973 is a vision that evokes strong memories for Sunderland fans to this day.

On the May 5 2013, 40 years will have passed since that famous game, and Sunderland AFC are hosting an anniversary gala to mark the occasion.

Jimmy Montgomery’s remarkable double-save has gone down as one of the finest in history, with a bar named in Monty’s honour at the new Wembley stadium.

To celebrate Jimmy’s save, and Ian Porterfield’s match-winning strike, supporters can enjoy the 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner, presented by the FA Cup winning team of 1973.

The evening includes a drinks reception, sumptuous four-course dinner, a chance to see the 1973 team with the FA Cup once again, live entertainment and an auction and raffle. Supporters can book a table for as little as £100 per person (when booking a table of 12).

There are also table sponsorship packages available at the event, with the added bonus of an opportunity to meet the 1973 team, matchday hospitality for a selected match and group photographs with the FA Cup winners. Sponsorship packages start at £1973.
