Players to wear Poppy shirts

by Kate Smith

Special SAFC shirts to raise funds for British Legion.

Sunderland’s squad will wear one-off shirts, featuring a poppy emblem, during the Black Cats’ forthcoming Barclays Premier League fixture against Everton this weekend to coincide with the national Remembrance Day commemorations.

Following the game, the shirts will be individually signed by the players and auctioned - via eBay - to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

SAFC’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “It’s hugely important that we not only pay our respects as part of the wider Remembrance Commemorations, but that we help to raise as much money as possible for the Royal British Legion, who do such a wonderful job in helping our service personnel.”

To bid for a shirt, visit www.ebay.com and search for ‘Sunderland AFC’ from week commencing Monday 12 November.
