Sunderland AFC Under-21s picked up another three points in the Premier League Cup after a 1-0 win against Bristol City.
Ellis Taylor scored the only goal of the game with a well converted penalty in the second half.
A tightly-contested first half saw the hosts look to take an early lead. Sam Pearson went through one-on-one before Kelechi Chibueze, on his first start, made a smart save to deny the opener.
Just moments later, Stefan Bajic had to make a reaction save to deny the Lads taking the lead following Taylor's corner.
25 minutes from time, the Black Cats took the lead and victory was sealed. Second-half substitute, Josh Robertston was brought down inside the area and captain Taylor cooly converted the penalty to the goalkeepers right-hand side.
Graeme Murty's side now go to second in Group E just behind Tottenham Hotspur who travel to Eppleton in December.
Sunderland AFC: Chibueze, Crompton (Chiabi), Fieldson (Bainbridge), Bell, Taylor, Burke (Robertson), Middlemas, Jones, Spellman, Watson (Ryder), Gardiner.
