Be A Star: SAFC support Salvation Army Christmas appeal

Sunderland AFC have once again supported the Salvation Army's Be A Star Christmas Appeal.

Organised by Luke O'Nien and Leanne Bennett, the appeal ensures Christmas is special for children and families in the local area who may otherwise go without.

Club staff, parents and players from the Under-9s up to the Under-16 groups donated toys and gifts.

The Under-18s and Under-21 Lads were supported by Academy staff Leann Cowperthwaite, Graham Baker and their respective coaches to go to the Salvation Army to pack the toys for the families that need extra support this Christmas.

Academy Player Care Lead, Evie Innes added: It is so important that we get involved in initiatives like this in the community and support local charities such as these. The Lads put in a good shift after training and enjoyed contributing to this worthwhile cause.
