U21 Preview: Youngsters host Wolves in PLC

Sunderland Under-21s are back for matchday four of six in the Premier League Cup group stage, seeking to get off the mark against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Eppleton on Monday night (KO 7pm).

The young Lads were beaten 2-0 by Cardiff City last time out, after being unable to convert numerous chances created.

It is likely Graeme Murty and John Hewitson may again look to rotate the side, having made XI changes for last Monday’s Eppleton contest. Harrison Sohna, Caden Kelly and Michael Spellman could all return – doubts lie over Max Thompson, who awaits a verdict on an ankle injury picked up in training on Thursday. The goalkeepers may again be rotated depending on availability – 17-year-old Daniel Cameron made his U21 debut in our last outing.

The reverse fixture in Group H resulted in a 1-0 Wolves success at the New Bucks Head Stadium in Telford nearly a fortnight ago, Dylan Scicluna netting the decisive header in the second half.

Following this match, the Lads finish the group campaign with two fixtures in the same December week, away at both Reading and Cardiff City.

Tickets for the match can be purchased at a cost of £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, both via safc.com and on the gate. Supporters are reminded that Eppleton CW is a cashless venue.
