Mark Atkinson’s side endured a frustrating afternoon last time out, suffering a 3-0 defeat in the Tyne-Wear derby at Newcastle United.

While the Black Cats dominated the general ebb and flow of the game on Tyneside, the Magpies proved more ruthless in front of goal and secured all three points.

This weekend, though, provides the young Black Cats the chance to banish memories of that defeat as they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Academy of Light.

The West Midland club began life in their merits group with a win after four straight league defeats saw them end their Premier League campaign at the foot of the table.

Wolves started their season back in August with a 5-2 victory over the Black Cats, however, fell to a 1-0 loss last time they visited the Academy of Light in November.
