Interview: Robson relishing Reds match-up

Josh Robson believes confidence is high within Sunderland under-23s’ camp ahead of Liverpool’s impending trip to Wearside.

The Black Cats are training hard at the Academy of Light as they put the final touches on preparations ahead of Sunday’s Premier League 2 match at Eppleton CW, KO 12pm.

With two clean sheets secured in as many matches, against Derby County and Cardiff City, full-back Robson has admitted another defensively sound display will be key to the Black Cats’ chance of getting a result.

“We need to make sure we do the right things and enjoy playing another match,” he said.

“Sunday’s game will be a different challenge to last weekend because we know they will be strong.

“We saw a lot of the ball against Cardiff, played some nice stuff at times also and scored a few goals so it was promising.

“Obviously though Liverpool are a good side and it will be important for us to make sure we stay strong and do our best to turn them over.”

He continued: “It has been great to get a couple of clean sheets in the last few weeks and hopefully we can make it three on Sunday.

“We want to keep going in the league and continue to pick up points as often as we can.”
