In the hunt: Hungry Robson keen to devour Toffees

Ethan Robson has set his sights on dismantling Everton’s title hopes this Sunday as Sunderland resume their Premier League 2 campaign.

The young Black Cats play host to the Toffees (on Sunday 8 January, kick-off 12pm) looking to close the six point gap David Unsworth's side hold over them as the race for the title heats up.

Having ran Manchester United all the way to the title last term, Andy Welsh’s team are fully aware of the lengths they’ll have to go if they’re to be within a chance this term, and speaking to safc.com midfielder Robson knows victory over Everton will be crucial to that happening.

“It should be a tough game but we did well against them at their place and picked up a big three points,” he said.

“We know we need to try and replicate that kind of performance but we know it’s going to be an incredibly tough game and we are preparing ourselves for that.

“If we can win against them then we are right back in it and we will close the gap.

He continued: “It was a great win over PSV in our last match and now it’s just a case of continuing that as we come back from Christmas and we are looking to do the same in 2017."
