Mark Atkinson takes the young Black Cats through to Newcastle United on the back of a character-defining victory over Liverpool.
Chris Allan’s speculative free-kick from range and Ben Kimpioka’s close range finish saw the youth team turn the match on its head following Liverpool’s early opener.
While the victory sees Atkinson’s side remain bottom, the youth team head through to Tyneside recharge and rejuvenated.
