Bounce back: Robson targets Royals win

Tom Robson is targeting three points when Reading travel to Eppleton CW on Sunday (KO 12pm).

Neatly poised in fifth, the club’s Premier League 2 side have made an encouraging start to the season picking up 11 points from their opening seven games.

A number of youngsters have also come to the forefront including the likes of Elliot Embleton, Josh Maja and Joel Asoro, all of which are just 17.

Earlier this week the under-23s struck late to rescue a point against Derby County, and Robson urged his team-mates to rediscover their early-season form against the Royals.

“A lot of the lads have stepped up to the first team this season and we’ve also played senior football in the Checkatrade Trophy, but we’ve really enjoyed it and I feel we’ve coped well.

“In the league we need to revisit our form earlier in the season after a couple of tough games, but we know it won’t be easy against Reading after playing against them last season.”

He continued: “They’re a strong side and they’re very physical – I don’t think we beat them despite finishing second – so it will be a good game and a good test for us.

“I thought we were the better side earlier this week [against Derby] and overall we played well, playing some good football and creating good chances which we should have taken.

“Hopefully we can take them this weekend and pick up three points.”
