Dickman's digest: U18s coach reflects on September

It has been a tough month for our under-18s because results haven’t gone our way but I have to give the lads credit because they have continued to work hard.

Getting a point last weekend at Everton was important but I feel as though we should’ve left there with all three considering we were winning 4-1.  We will settle for the point and continue to work hard ahead of our trip to Manchester United because that has to be our primary focus now.

Some of our performances have been good even though the results have left us bottom of the league.

It has been a struggle but in amongst that we have produced some good play and our young squad are continuing to develop and that is a credit to the boys really.

There are plenty of positives though because Josh Maja made his first-team debut last month, Joel Asoro and Elliot Embleton, who are also second-year scholars, are in and around the first-team mix so there are plenty of encouraging signs.

But of course from a points and a results point of view we have to look to turn that around in our next few games and make sure we continue to produce plenty more players to follow in their footsteps.
