Resilience : Storey demands ruthless nature

Alex Storey has insisted his team-mates must make life as uncomfortable as they can for Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

Sunderland under-18s welcome the West Midlands club to Wearside on Saturday as they continue their search for their first Premier League win of the campaign.

Despite missing the first couple of months of the season through injury, Storey has admitted he is beginning to find his feet again and is keen to forge a resilient partnership alongside Brandon Taylor and first-year scholar Jacob Young.

The defender has also targeted an upturn in form and is optimistic the Black Cats can claw their way out of the mire.

“I’ve had a couple of weeks to settle back into training and it has been hard coming back from a long-term injury,” he said.

“I think its key we start the game well, get off to a good start and then try to build from there.

“It’s a massive game for us. We need to build from the back and make sure we don’t concede or especially give away anything cheaply.

“We know we aren’t going to create many chances but it’s all about being clinical with your chances.”

He continued: “We need to make sure when we do get sights of goal we take our chances.

“When we get our noses in front we need to stick together as a team, work for each other, be solid and hard to break down.”
