Speaking Welsh: Training camp day 1

Our first day away from the usual surroundings of the Academy of Light has been a challenging and long one for the group of players who have travelled away with us to Spain for the four-day training camp.

It’s great to be out here because the weather is absolutely lovely and that is great for our conditioning and work rate.

We are going to have seven sessions while we are out here and we are going to make sure we work the lads technically, tactically and physically very hard.

As we don’t have any games scheduled we are using the time to really push the lads so that they make the most of working hard and focusing on certain aspects of their game.

The lads and all the staff are looking forward to what lies ahead. We started off today with a light session where we got a feel for the ball. It was a bit of an easy session today because it has been a long day travelling and tomorrow we are going to start working on a bit more physical work to try and push the lads to their limits.

We started off by working in little boxes and then we moved onto some passing drills to really get their legs going.

This initial day is really about getting the lads acclimatised to the intense conditions so that they can really improve themselves while they are over here.

Hopefully we can be back on the pitch bright and early tomorrow morning to get the lads well underway with our programme and begin some physical conditioning.
